Obituary


Funeral services for Floyd C. Billings, age 92 of the Bull Run Road Lisbon, will be held at 3:00pm on Wednesday (Sept 13, 2017) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Lay Speaker Larry Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Martin Cemetery in Lisbon.

Calling hours will be held also on Wednesday from 11:00am until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Billings passed away on Saturday (Sept 9, 2017) at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving is his wife Freda; four sons Terry Billings & his wife Martha of Canton, Lynn Billings & his wife Debbie of Waddington, Randy Billings and his wife Joan of Madrid and Timothy Billings and his wife Darlene of Heuvelton; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

A sister Pamela Bundy; five brothers Wilfred, Melvin, Albert, Mitchell, Louis Billings and a grandson Scott Billings predeceased him.

Floyd was born on March 23, 1925 in Lisbon NY, a son of the late Simon & Ida (Bruce) Billings. He attended Madrid area schools for his education, and later married Freda Dunbar on August 30, 1950 at the First Methodist Church in Potsdam with Rev. Wendell R. Carter officiating their marriage.

During his career he worked as a hired hand dairy farmer, drove truck for Pete Green, worked at the Lisbon Feed Mill and later retired as the Town of Lisbon Highway Superintendent in 1991. He enjoyed golfing, reading western books and spending time with his family.
